Finding a Letter in a Haystack

While reviewing and organizing an estate and trust file for the purpose of completing administration, I recently had the absolute pleasure of finding a letter from the well-known American artist, Grant Wood. The letter, which was in pristine condition, was found inside an envelope from the artist, placed inside a small manila envelope, placed inside a larger manila envelope. The larger manila envelope was among several other envelopes which were held together by a rubber band and placed in an expando file. No one had noticed this "letter in a haystack" prior to my finding it. I had been given the file in a state of disarray and found the letter as I reviewed each document and organized files to determine the status of the inventory, accounting, probate filings, etc.

I always "take a forensic approach" to examining all documents entrusted to my review.

I invite you to please take the opportunity to read the article written by Kyle Munson which appeared in the March 5, 2015, Des Moines Register. Mr. Munson wrote the article after attorney Sam Kelsall sent him a scan of the Grant Wood letter. (Mr. Kelsall had hired me as a freelance paralegal to work on the file.)
